Xubuntu 7.04 instal - stop at 6%l

Asked by sophie27

I'm trying to install xubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386 on my PC (Pentium 4, 90RAM). I boot from the CD and I see the main menu page, all is ok until now.
Then I click on "Install", I set the language (italian) and the keyboard (it) and the installation starts.
But at 6% (There is written something about "Detecting hardware.....Loading module .. for IDE chipset support") is stops!
I have controled the image file with winMd5Sum: it is ok.
If I try to check the CD from the main page menu, it stops.
I've burned the image cd with InfraRecorder
Which can be the problem?
Thanks

There are good chances that the CD was not burnt correctly. Try again, perhaps with another burner software and/or lower burn speed.
Also, be patient; you may think that your computer is hung when in fact it is, perhaps very slowly, still working.

Thank you. Can you recommend me some different burner?
It is possible that my computer is still working even if the installation is frozen at 6% for 10 hours??

I would try burning another cd and try that. Make sure that you burn it at the lowest setting.

Hmmmm, no, 10 hours is indeed quite too much.
For burners, last I used on WinXP was deepburner (www.deepburner.com), was quite ok.

Thanks, i'm gonna try to burn it again.
By "lowest setting" do you mean the lowest speed? Or there is something more I can set?

thank you to your answers. Burning with deep burner at low speed was the solution to my problem!
