Is there an application that will play .wma files in Ubuntu 9.04, 64 bit? If so how must it be supported?

It was a good try. I got back from vlc

No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "MSS2". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

I even looked into the Windows world and could not find a working conversion method.
Curse Microsoft for this evil deed. I hope nobody will endorse this format and it dies a tortured death in Media Player XXX.
