b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error

Asked by Ruben Verweij

I am using karmic with all the updates installed. (but kernel 2.6.30-10, due to problems with later versions and my nvidia card).
The log files are absolutely crowded with these error messages:
Aug 12 09:17:30 kernel: [ 1071.919907] b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error
Aug 12 09:17:30 kernel: [ 1081.653029] b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error
Aug 12 09:17:30 kernel: [ 1081.811829] b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error
Aug 12 09:17:30 kernel: [ 1082.811245] b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error
Aug 12 09:17:36 kernel: [ 1084.150739] b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error
I'm not sure whether it is a bug, but is there a solution to this?
Thanks in advance!

If you don' need this driver, you can run

sudo lsmod|grep b43
rmmod

if success, add to /etc/modules line with

blacklist <name of module>

Yes, I can understand that. The problem is, however, that I do need this driver.
