Dell Mini 10v Internal Microphone not working under Ubuntu 9.04

I know this is a known bug and I've read that it WILL or is already patched under Karmic Koala, but I find it very difficult to understand why It can't be patched under 9.04 as well ASAP?? I do not want to upgrade to Karmic yet as I don't believe it is stable enough at this point, and It is rather frustrating since everything else works super well with Ubuntu 9.04 on a Dell Mini 10v except for this Mic issue... which I need since I use Skype to communicate with my parents accross the globe.

Can't you guys do anything to patch that bug under 9.04 as well?? If so, any idea when it can be done?

I'm sure I'm not the only person frustrated by this bug!! From what I read, most people use 9.04 on their netbooks so if it can't be fixed there's gotta some way to workaround this problem no? I tried using the OSS version of skype, without success... Any other ideas?

I'm confused because It seems to say the bug has been fix, but I still can't record any sound on my Mini 10v... Do I have to do anything special manually?

It is "released" for Karmic.
It is only "committed" for Jaunty.
So it might (not must or will) get into the linux-image in the next days/weeks/moths.
It does not seem (to me) to be already included into the proposed image:

You could try that kernel nonetheless...

Or just wait... as bad as it is.
