opening files to new version 9.04

I just installed 9.04, and I wanted to know if I could bring my software from my old version to my 9.04. I already have my data in 9.04, but how do bring these software. Or do I have too reinstall them?

If you didn't upgrade from the previous version of Ubuntu to current (from 8.10 to 9.04) but did a from scratch reinstall then yes, you will have to reinstall your software again. Even when upgrading all the software from non-default repositories is removed and must be reinstalled manually.
