how to specify an upstream series (in Launchpad) for a package ?

Asked by nobody

Hello,

I'm trying add an upstream link for the Armadillo C++ library, through the following URL:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/armadillo/+edit-packaging

I've entered the URL for Armadillo's home page, but Launchpad says "Invalid series given".

So, how does one exactly specify the "upstream series" ? What does "series" mean in this case ? How exactly do I define the series ?

I think this is for when you have different source package names like python, they have the source package python2.4 and python2.5, but they set the upstream series for both packages to python/trunk.

By "series" they mean release series. Often you'll want to link to armadillo/trunk branch.

But that's mostly a guess, I'm not completely sure.

Can you help with this problem?
