can not configure sound hp omnibook 900 notebook

Asked by argos3

after installing (any distro) the sound does not function.
seems that the soundcard is not recognized.
I would like to get as much as possible from this old computer and the sound is the function is left for a 100 per cent performance.
I have xubuntu in an HP OmniBook 900, PII processor.
Thanks for your help

Your soundcard is recognised by the kernel and it is a model supported by alsa.
Lets see what the problem might be; run the first sript on this page and paste here the resulting URL (must be connected to inet):

Hmmmmm, I think you need some directions :)

I assume you have downloaded the script to your Desktop (if not let me know).
Open a terminal (no idea how to do that in xubuntu, check your menu and accessories/system tools if you have them).
Once open, give this command:

bash Desktop/alsa-info.sh

Follow the on-screen instructions.
