email photos to reduce size

Asked by Ralphy

In Windows I can go to a photo/s in a file, and email it/them directly from the folder. When I do it, the programme asks if I want to reduce the size or leave as it is. This is a quick way of reducing the photo file size saving a lot of time, otherwise I would need to use a photo programme and it would take a far too long to change perhaps 300+ photos.

Is there any programme that allows me to change the photo size and effectively and efficiently?

You might want to use "convert". It's a command line tool which can be used to batch process a series of imeages, see http://www.imagemagick.org/script/convert.php

In Photoshop you can apply the same action to all the pictures in a folder but i haven't played around with Gimp to learn how to do that in Gimp yet.

http://www.gimp.org/docs/
Please let me know if you do find an answer in there!
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
