Any program for recovering deleted files?

Asked by Lawrence

I was recently doing some ¨cleaning¨ of my NTFS external harddrive, and I deleted some files that I shouldn´t have. I am not a programmer, so my questions are:

For Ubuntu are there any user friendly easy to use program for recovering deleted files?

For Ubuntu are there any user friendly easy to use programs for backing up the files on my computer?

I am using Ubuntu 9.04.

Thanks very much.

For ubuntu or any other linux it's just a case of copying your /home folder onto dvd or external drive although there are programs of increasing sophistication and complexity to compress some of this or timetable it or something

Good luck and regards from

Err since the deleted info is on the ntfs rather than the ubuntu partition then continuing the ubuntu session will be fine - you don't need to shutdown or go to a LiveCd session ;)

Can you help with this problem?
