thesaurus using mouse

Asked by Ralphy

Windows has the feature of being able to access the thesaurus for a word via the mouse. Highlight the word and click- ask for a synonym and it gives a choice.

I am unable to find if and where this feature can be installed. Any ideas?

Also, the mouse doesn't provide the ability to highlight an an area of test and move it. I have to use copy and paste to shift the text to another place. Again any ideas?

Hi :)

Usually you can add in extra functionality like that by using synaptic package manager to search for and install extra packages. All programs that could make use of the extra functions should automatically pick-up on the presence of the new package

Good luck and regards from

Thanks Tom.

Searched the suggested sites and also synaptic package manager for additional packages to give the mouse thesaurus feature but found none...at least none I could recognise.

The issue remains if anyone can please direct me to a suitable package?

There is a Kthesaurus available, but I think you still have to cut and paste to use it. It isn't a 'mouseover' feature. Might also be helpful to know what you are using, just in case. There are several word processors in Linux, but the only place I am aware of that you can't highlight an area of text and move it is in a command window. I'm pretty sure it works in OpenOffice writer.

Can you help with this problem?
