ubuntu didn't detect one of the partion of my harddisk

Asked by Rajath

i have made 4 partitions in my 160 GB hard disk(40 each). among that, 3 partitions i have dedicated to my windows(all having fat32 filesystem) and one for my Linux. when i go to 'my computer' from Linux, it shows only 2 drives. however, i have no problem in accessing the files of this drive from /media/. how can i make this drive to appear in 'my computer'? as i want to write data to this disk from Linux.

You need to know the VOL_ID of ever disk.
For example. For first partition with fat32 you have:
/dev/sda1
Then, you need exec:
sudo vol_id /dev/sda1 | grep UUID | cut -d = -f 2

Then, put at the end of fstab file the follow:
VOL_ID_RESULT vfat defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1

You can edit fstab file with:
Push ALT+F2
write this :
gksudo gedit /etc/fstab
and push enter.

You need to do this for sda1, sda5 and sda6

This partition (sda5) isn't good. You may check it. For it, you can
use dosfsck (man dosfsck to watch options)
