The connection to my router (ethernet) is lost when the computer is in "suspend" and will not re-connect automatically; never had a problem before upgrading to 9.04.

I have a BT router which services two desktops (wired) and a netbook (wireless). No problem with the connections until I upgraded my main desktop to 9.04. My netbook is on 8.10. Now my main desktop (the other is on Windows) loses the connection to the router when it is suspended and will only re-connect if the other desktop is in use ie. the router is active. The computer doesn't seem to prompt the router to activate. The router has an "ethernet" light which is on when the desktop computers are in use but now doesn't seem to respond to my main desktop at all. If I start up my main computer with the router switched on but the other desktop and/or the netbook off then no connection is made.

You may need to add a small script or command so that when the system "wakes up" it runs:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

This will restart the networking which seems to be having issues with suspend.

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately things are now worse.
Having entered the command in a terminal it said something like
eth0=eth0 [OK]
Then I closed down both desktops and restarted my main computer - no
connection. So I closed down the main computer, started the other
desktop which connected automatically to the router, and tried mine
again - no connection.
I now can't get a connection at all on my main desktop and am sending
this from my netbook. Incidentally the netbook still connects
automatically to the router when I use an ethernet cable.
I notice that when I call up connection information on the desktop the
connection name is "Wired connection 1" but on the netbook the interface
is Ethernet (ethO). Is that relevant?
And when I go to "Edit" connections for "Wired connection 1" on the
desktop there is no MAC address entered, but the "Connect automatically"
box is ticked.

I have resolved this issue by saving my folders and re-installing 9.04. The connection is now working again. Bit crude I know but I couldn't bear it any longer.
