ctrl+alt+f1 will not return to x

Asked by David Ring

If I press ctrl+alt+f1, I can log in, but I cannot exit and return to X.

All I can do is ctrl+alt+delete or "shutdown now".

Thanks

David

Did you try to press alt+f7 to return back to X?

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

Yes that works Heikki, but before I could just type "exit" and return.

Alt+F7 works fine - I had forgotten about that. :-)

Before I could login, and use command line, then type "exit" and I would return to X.

But now I can just use Alt+F7 - perhaps the "exit" feature is no longer supported.

It was easier!
