Evolution missing Google Addressbook type

Asked by CadetD

I want to add my Gmail contacts as an Addressbook [http://www.linux.com/feature/154875] in Evolution 2.22.3.1

The GOOGLE option is not present, it only offers : Local Addressbook or LDAP Server.

Fully updated Jaunty.

Extract it to a CSV andimport it, you may need to modify it, its outlined in one of the posts here. Give it a go. If it needs tweaking I'll find the link

Hi actionpasrnip,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately...

This would only put a current snapshot of my Google Apps addressbook locally. I need realtime sync.
If I change something on my G1 phone or online on my Contacts' page, it should be available without re-downloading the addressbook.

Evolution has this capability (added after the Summer of Code). You can create a new addressbook as type: Google. It will read the data from your online addressbook as opposed to locally.

Somehow, that address book type (Google) is missing from installation. I have a fully patched Ubunty Jaunty.

Then log a feature request and it will hopefully get implemented in the future. Until then you will have to do it that way or do without

Can you help with this problem?
