On the first screen chose language. Then press the F* key e.g F1, F2... that is advanced options. Edit the text to remove the word splash. If proble persists with installed system use
e to edit. Then fix by removing all "splash" with text editor
Edit the text file after log on with ALT+F2 and enter gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

where is the 9.04 installed? i lost where but the software said 100% completed install
