Kernel Panic - Not Syncing: Fatal Exception in interrupt
I am a n00b at BIOS, so Linux is hard enough, but I am trying to learn. I downloaded Ubuntu 7.04 three days ago, and tried installing. It gave me the message:
"1719665 <0> Kernel Panic - Not Syncing: Fatal Exception in interrupt 17179665.200000"
So then I tried Ubuntu 6.06 downloaded from the Ubuntu Website.
The same message came up with different numbers at the begining and end.
I tried another download, to make sure my integrity wasn't a problem, and again the message came up.
So I tried running 6.06 in Safe Mode, and when the loading came to "Hardware Drivers" it froze.
I am currently running a Modified Gateway 831 GM.
I am trying to replace my WIndows install on a partitioned 250 GB SATA Hardrive.
(Partitions on Widows:
- - - C: 16 GB (windows)
- - - D: 25 GB
- - - E: 200 GB
- - - F: 5 GB (paging File)
All in NTFS, which I thought linux would format to FAT32 with installation.
512 RAM, Double Slot (2x 256 Sticks)
Add-On ATI 9250 Graphics Card
Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 3.0 Ghz
When running widows, there where problems with virtual memory and memory.
For the last two days, I've been looking on-line to no avail. If someone could give me a sense of direction, or some help, I would greatly appreciate it.
