Error installing ubuntu 9.04

Asked by Samarth Kumar

I recently received my cd of ubuntu 9.04. But when i tried to install it in my p.c, it stopped installing after the point where it creates virtual disk space. I have an ubuntu 8.04 installed as a different partition. Is it creating the problem or is their some fault in the cd? Actually i found the cd was not looking all right. I f there is some fault with the cd, can i order another cd of ubuntu 9.04 without paying any cost? Please solve my problem as i am very eager to use it and give the review about it to my friends.

If you boot the pc from the cdrom with the ubuntu cd inserted, there should be an option called "check the cd for errors".
This should be the first step every time you attempt to an installation!
Please make that check then let us know the output of the check.

The installation runs upto creating virtual disk space but the status bar doesn't moves further. I have ubuntu 8.04.1 installed in my pc. Is it creating the problem means will i have to uninstall it?

No, at least in that stage the previous installation cannot create any problem to the new one. As i said, check the cd for errors.
If the cdrom has no errors, I'm afraid that it depends on some incompatibility between your pc and the installer, and that you will have to download the alternate cd for a "pseudo-graphic" installation, less shiny but often more effective than the live-desktop installation.

Can you help with this problem?
