how do i download and install things?

i just got this computer and found that it doent have windows. I don't know how to figure things out that well on computers, but this one will not allow me to download anything or install anything. this has totally confused me. i tried installing my epson stylus cx3800 series printer/scanner and it didnt work. i got an error message. then i have tried downloading games off the internet and frostwire and i keep getting error messages. will someone please help me solve this problem and be specific please. thank you.

you mainly use the repositories, or you add repositories and then use them

try searching in synaptic for games, you will find a few

The same, Ubuntu is Ubuntu is Ubuntu, you can use Synaptic or apt-get to install things from the repositories.
If you can detail what you would like to install maybe I can be more specific.
