Nvidia Driver 180.44 and Backlight Brightness

Asked by Tamer

I have a problem when using the restricted display drivers on my laptop. The problem is; I can't adjust the backlight brightness of my screen. There is no problem if don't use the restricted drivers but this time, the visual quality gets too low. So, how can I make backlight brightness adjustable with restricted drivers?

Here are some information about my system:

Laptop Model: Toshiba Tecra S10-11A
Graphics Card: Nvidia Quadro NVS 150M
Nvidia Driver Version: 180.44
Ubuntu Version: 9.04

try:

gksudo nvidia-settings

under X Server colour correction you can change brightness there. Remember to write changes to xorg.conf

I tried it. Yes, it changes brightness by doing some enhancements on colors but not the backlight itself. What I want to do is to adjust the backlight brightness which I can't do it from there.

I forgot to say that: When I use brightness applet I get "cannot get laptop panel brightness" error message.
