white screen after logging in

after logging in my screen goes black and white and then completely white/blank, however my wife can log as normal, i am the administrator so i cannot just create a new login, thanks

you can create a new login and give it admin rights

hi, thanks but when i log into my wifes login there is no option to create a new login

try doing 'sudo users-admin'

see what that turns up

also, Beryl can cause screens to go white (known as the "white cube" problem")
I fixed the problem by first stopping Beryl starting up upon boot (with a bit of rushing)
and then uninsalled AWN and WINE.
