Internet problem or wifi problem

The problem is my wifi or wireless network is not working when i click on the 2 computers combined icon on my panel it has the option of maually configuring network and im wondering is that how i set up my wireless network again or just another way to set up the internet

Could you explain how you connect to the Internet on Windows for example. That way you could replicate those settings in NetworkManager on Ubuntu
