Have you worked through the Medibuntu worksheet?
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
the non-free components usually help with playing movies
Good luck and regards from

If you have installed the Medibuntu Repository and it works then install the codec: libdvdcss2

Make sure you have also installed: ubuntu-restricted-extras

Are the .dat files inside a folder called something like "Video_TS"? If so i think dropping the whole folder onto an open mplayer or other media-player window (but not totem) sometimes lets the film play

Hi there

This problem has again came back to hunt me. I was able to see videos until yesterday. But today after I uploaded a software for my web cam I am unable to see any *.dat files. I think probably my later installs edited some of the files. Can anyone help me in changing that?

When I try playing video CD it says file not identified.

Help. Thanks.

Jaggi

Hi :)

Have you been able to try the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta2
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
