I've tried the daily build-karmic. the zotac ion board was not working.. live cd did not work

Karmic is an alpha-test and unlikely to be easy as it's likely to have a lot of problems. Have you managed to get a LiveCd sesion of Jaunty or Hardy working on that machine?
