usb modem not working in 9.04

Hi all, I have reinstalled 9.04 on my desktop from 8.10. my usb modem was working with 8.10. The modem is connecting with optus but firefox says "address not found".
I have done "lsusb" and the modem is found and working. My ethernet line works fine but to change to the usb I lose my connection.
This problem is also on a laptop did setup for my brother. Same symptions exactly.

Perhaps it doesn't have the DNS info?

try to ping google.com & 4.2.2.2 to see if there are any difference.

Yes it has 2 DNS servers 202.139.83.3, 192.65.91.129

Hi I have solved my problem by installing wvdial and gnome ppp.
