xubuntu 9.04 screen resolution

Asked by koko

i recently installed xubuntu 9.04 on virtualbox, using ubuntu 9.04 as host.

it installed fine and works great, except there's no sound and the screen resolution only goes up to 800x600

i'd like to fix the sound, but my priority is the screen resolution.

if anyone can help, i would greatly appreciate it.

you need to install the guest additions. Launch the vm and get it booted, you can then click one of the options at the top of the desktop and select download guest additions. It will pull down a 20Mb ISO file. You will then need to mount this (or easier is shutdown the VBox and have the iso mount at boot)

it will mount to /media/cdrom0 and you will find some executable files which will install the modules and other much for virtualbox's virtualise hardware.

You may also need an xorg.conf tweak but just try a reboot to see if the display is ok. If not then here is an xorg.conf you can implement:

Its down right now but the link is right.
