"status 127 " error on 9.04 install

Asked by john.ros

I am getting the following error while installing 9.04:
init: rc-default main process (3035) terminated with status 127
The installation continues after this error but always freezes with the following error:
[120.XXXXXX] Memory corruption at low memory

I am running:
3GHZ Pentium 4 on
Intel D945GTP AAC97839-300 board (with BIOS disabled audio peripherals)

with two display adapters:
ATI-264VT2
Intel (on board) 82945G

Thank you in advance.

Did you MD5 check your ISO? Did you verify your CD once initially booted to? Have you ran the memory tester?

I used the same CD to install on another machine without problems.
I did run the memory tester.

Ok good so far

I can suggest you disable the non essential hardware in your bios (lke sound and lan as well as anything else you can) and then use boot options to make the kernel as simple as possible (F5 at the first CD boot screen, then put a tick in each box)

This will help.

F5 is accessibility. Do you mean F6 ("Other Options")?

Got it!
I removed the second video adapter and was able to install it.
After installation I tried putting back the second graphics adapter but with no success... At the moment it's either one screen or Ubuntu.

There was some success on #ubuntu with a similar problem by pressing f6, and adding

intel_agp.blacklist=yes
and
agpgart.blacklist=yes

to the boot options.
