unable to write to drive
says permission not granted

in media folder the drive is listed as:
dr-xr-xr-x 1 b b 2048 2006-11-11 11:18 dvdrecorder

i've tried

For write on DVD you need use a specific recorder software. Brasero, Gnome-baker, Nautilus-burn, k3b are some examples of this. They are like to Nero or EasyCDcreator on Windows environments.

I have tried k3b.
It is the permissions that is the problem not the burning program.
It seems that without the permission set to include write
burning programs will work.
So how do I change the permission?
Thanks

Hello !

You have to check that your drive is not mounted read-only ... You can check the output of the command "mount" to make sure ...

If it's mounted read-only, you can change your fstab settings, then unmount and remount the drive.

Please post back here if you need step-by-step insctructions on how to do this.

Regards,
Benoît
