Upgrade, update

I live in China and so much from the Mainland is blocked. So I miss a lot of updates and so on.

Does anyone have any lines for me to add to my list, so I can find more?

You shouldn't need to use Chinese servers, you could try others.

Wow, that page looks quite an easy way to sort it out but i also find the regular route fairly easy. Form the top taskbar click on

System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager

Settings - Repositories - Ubuntu Software

then about halfway down it says "Download from" and the drop-down list has all sorts of interesting choices but they should all be the same. It might be worth hunting around in the rest of that pop-up gui called "Software Sources" and then also in Synaptic again

Settings - Preferences

where the "Files" and "General" tabs might have interesting options.
I hope this helps! but be carefull about installing things that might annoy the authorities or otherwise get you in trouble somehow but something's might be important i guess.

One more thing. I might be living in China now, but the Chinese servers are SLOWWWWWWWWWWW. I hope to be back in Holland soon.

My route had a special option for searching around for the fastest server (via "Other") but i eventually realised that the result of that can change from one moment to the next so i eventually settled on using the Czech server. I'm just testing again now because i last tested when 'everyone' was excitedly downloading 9.04 in the first hour of it's official release lol. Well take care of and respect peoples customs as you're leaving ;) Stay safe but have fun :)

I found that out too. I do a search for the best server. Most of the time it´s one in nearby Taiwan. But NEVER one in China. And i got the Chech one too. I use a Chinese one now, but download is very slow. But I have all the time in the world.

England so i would have thought the Kent server or perhaps the Isle-of-Mann one but right now it's giving me Thailand! lol
