i have no audio with the external speakers, just in front jacks

No tengo audio en external speakers, solo en audifonos en mi hp pavillion dv5-1135 entertaiment pc con triple boot (particion 1.- vista, particion 2.- mac os x y particion 3.- ubuntu 9.04)

El problema creo que es nada más de configuración, pero no entiendo muy bien la pregunta, te refieres a que si conectas altavoces no funcionan o te refieres a los altavoces que vienen con el portátil?

Intenta esto:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Añade esto al final:

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

Lo guardas y reinicias y entonces debería funcionar
