E:_cache>open failed. Help ?

I have just swapped to ubuntu 9.04, went to watch a DVD on Movie Player,didn't work,said the E:_cache >Open, failed
E:dpkg was interrupted and i had to run sudo dpkg--configure--a. Totally lost don't know were to start. Please Help.

Try the following:

1) Open a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal)
2) Type the following command very carefully (or copy and paste) and then press <Enter>:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

3) You will be prompted for your password. Your password will not appear on screen when you are typing, so type carefully.

4) Try whatever task was not working before again. Copy an error messages you get at any point in these directions back here.
