What web camera's are compatible/work with Ubuntu 9.04?

Asked by Melinda

I'm looking to purchase a web camera but don't want to have any installation, configuration, compatibility, problems when setting it up. So this why I'm asking before I purchase one. Thanks!

The Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 will work with 9.04 out of the box. The driver is built into the kernel.

You will need a program to use it, of course, such as Cheese or Skype.

Hi Andre! Will The Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 work with Kopete?

Hi Melinda, there are some postings on the net where this webcam did not work with Kopete but these are old. From what I can gather, the webcam does now work with Kopete. Any mishaps in the past were due to a glitch in Kopete.

I use this camera successfully in Skype and Ekiga as well as Cheese.

Hi! I just finished purchasing a Logitech Quickcam IM Plus seems to work great with Skype. Although
with Kopete it doesn't work properly the video has very funny color looks like a cartoon. Thanks!
