Play Real Media Files

Asked by Ashish Kumar Shah

hello everyone i am a new ubuntu user. I want to play RMVB videos on Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64. On a windows computer i would have used realplayer to play them. When i tried to get a real player it gave me a lot of trouble and no luck so far.

Can any one here help me out with this?
Do i have any alternate player which can do that? (I tried MPlayer it didnt work)?
How do i install real player on ubuntu 8.10 Amd 64?
Is it difficult to find software for AMD 64? ( Atleast i felt that :))?

sudo apt-get install realplayer

its part of universe and multiverse repositories, you may need to add these in synaptic

Did you using desktop effect (compiz) when try to play the file?
Try to disable your desktop effect then re-open that file. How about that?

Cheers...
