Wine is an abstraction of system calls. It translates Windows calls to native Linux system instructions INCLUDING directx. If you use wine then all directx capabilities available to that version of wine are handled, so you do not have to explicitly install directx.
Make sure you have wine from the wine repos:

Then run

winecfg and set the system to Vista. Gets round that sort of thing. The game may also require you to get some DLL files and put them in certain places. Have you checked the wine appdb to check compatibility? What game are you trying to run?

Looks like you need a small modification to a file, but it gets a GOLD rating =D

Scroll the link down that I gave you and read EVERYTHING. It will tell you how to get it running.

try

winecfg

and under the graphics tab put a tick in:

Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their window

click apply, click ok

Try the app.

If its still bad, try also enabling:

Emulate virtual desktop

Can you help with this problem?
