Debian installation problem.

I installed dabian 5.0 using DVD.
now my problem is I can't login.
I got normal login screen and I donno what is username and password.
during installation no ask about username and password.

How do I login and what is username and password?

Also I have a another problem.
Now new grub is not showing my old ubuntu(I installed debian in to another partition.). only my xp and debian only.

I boot from live CD and I coppied required informatins of /boot/grub/menu.lst in my ubuntu partition and paste in to debian menu.lst.

but it's not worked.

how do i fixed it also?

You could boot to recover root console then run:

passwd <the username you log ni with>

Debian is NOT ubuntu so the setup may be different. I suggest you close this question and post in a debian forum.
