cannot mount volume

i have installed ubuntu along wit windows, im not able to open my drives in my computer . it says cannot mount volume. please help.

make sure that you check access external storage box
systems-->administration-->users & groups-->select your username-->properties-->user privileges

Hy Arshaan!

I assume you want to read data from an NTFS volume which was created for the use with MS Windows. The article at [1] already provides you with some good hints on what to do. Of ourse you need some common sense to modify the commands as appropriate. I also think you won't need to import the repositories as described there. I rather suggest you a search for "ntfs-3g" using Synaptic frontend to achieve the same.

Unfortunately I do not have the powers to change the state of this question to SOLVED, EXPIRED or INVALID. Someone here at Launchpad either grant me that permission or simply apply the change in state to this question, please.
