When I use the New Login in a Window application, and error message pops up.

Asked by Joe Lawrence

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 (but it persisted in other releases, too), I don't know the package, I wanted to have a new login in a window :-), it just didn't work and a message popped up saying:

Cannot start new display.
The X server failed. Perhaps it is not configured well.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Can you please clarify what:

login in a window

is?

Do you mean a new user? A new GDM theme?

yeah, like the gdm theme. you find it in the applications > system menu. (you have to go to edit menus and select it)
