Windows Mobile 5.0

Asked by oneadvent

I am going to play the devils advocate and ask a scary question:

Can I ActivSync my Ubuntu box with my smartphone, which has Windows Mobile 5.0?

I was considering flashing it with Linux, but I called and that would void my warranty, so I cannot do that yet.

As a related question, is there an offical Ubuntu guide on how to use a USB Modem?

Thanks for any replys.

You can use "synce" and multisync or "opensync" to sincronize some info with your smartphone.

About USB modem, there are many USB modem type. Per example, if you use ADSL connection, maybe your modem could run with eagle-usb drivers.
If you give me more data of your modem, I can search some info for it.

The "Modem" is my smartphone. I have internet on it (of course) and it can be used to be a USB modem in windows.

The idea is that when I am on the road I can access the internet via my phone.

It is a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone from T-Mobile. It is the SDA.

I will try "synce", "multisync" and "opensync" and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply.

If you have bluetooth is more easy to connect to internet using your smartphone. I use a Nokia 6670 as a modem. ¿What smartphone are you using exactly?
For use with USB, you need a support for your smartphone, and no all this dispositives, can support it.
