Help Installing 9.04 on old machine

Asked by jsvironfurnace

Im new to linux but found an old machine and figured i would take a crack at putting it on there.

Im trying Ubuntu 9.04
Its only got 64mb or ram so i'm using the alternate install CD.

It seams to be working OK untill i get to "installing base system".
About 74% of the way thru i get to "storing language..." then the install bottoms out and stops.

Any ideas on solutions?

I recently tried installing ubuntu on an old machine myself with the same specs. I tried 5 times with the same results as you. I ended up selecting to partition the hd under a different option than the first 5 attempts and it went through without a hitch. I don't remember exactly what I chose ultimately. Not sure if this would help but I thought it'd be worth suggesting.

Can you help with this problem?
