ubuntu evolution email import from mac, or a palm conduit

Asked by thomas

I am looking for a way to import my e-mail to evolution. A conduit to sync to my Palm T|X would be perfect.
This is the only work-around I have thought of for the real problem, how to get my e-mail from my old mac to my new ubuntu box. I was using mac mail and mac thunderbird. Evolution seems to not support import from either. So I thought to use my palm T|X to transfer it all... It seems there is no conduit for e-mail transfer.
This conduit is something that would benefit me anyway, but is slightly less important than retrieving all my old e-mail from my old mac. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks!

I still have not found how to transfer, and definitely want, my mac mail and a conduit to sync my evolution e-mail with my palm T|X, but I found the thunderbird part of the answer here:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/faq#q2.9

Thunderbird's mail files are in the standard plain text "mbox" format, which almost all mail programs can use or import. Many proprietary mail programs have a function to import ... the "mbox" format; this function should read your Mozilla mail files properly.

Your mail files are inside your profile (see the Profile Folder), in the Mail and (if you use IMAP) ImapMail folders. Each mail folder (Inbox, Sent, etc.) is stored as two files — one with no extension (e.g. INBOX), which is the mail file itself (in "mbox" format), and one with an .msf extension (e.g. INBOX.msf), which is the index (Mail Summary File) to the mail file. Tell the other program to import mail from the file with no extension.

Which mail service do you use?
If you use gmail, have a look here:

Hope it helps. Greetings

Oh sorry, you should have Gnome-pilot for your Palm PDA already installed on your system

Thanks for some good ideas... I use 2 POP e-mail addresses, one from my web-site, and one from a small POP server...
    2 questions still here...

In mac I know where to go to find my thunderbird profile, but where do I put it in Ubuntu so that all my e-mail transfers from my old machine with my usb drive? When I opened thunderbird on the ubuntu system, the first dialog box that came up, import settings, had only one available option, "do not import anything" it was marked and I could not un-mark it.

I have the Gnome pilot instaled (it imported my memos from my palm T|X), but there was no conduit (I have not found a repository of other conduits, even tho it suggested there was one somewhere) I could find for importing my email, only to send the e-mail in my palms send box. I want to keep the 2 synced, if possible.

thanks for being here for me (all of us!)
