You will have to use your Ubuntu install disk in "Live" mode to be able to partition your hard drive. You cannot do this while you are using it.

Your hard drive shows up in "Computer" as "Filesystem".

Don't omit backing up your Home directory to a CD or other storage device - just in case something goes wrong.

Good Luck!

i soon figured out that im suppose to use the live cd before receiving your message but i just reinstall everything because vista couldnt find the volume of some sort. but what i did was use gparted on the live cd and shrunk the size of ubuntu and with that allocated space i just formated it to ntfs, but for some reason vista couldnt recognize the file system or volume to install it on the ntfs partition, so i was just like "screw it" and reinstall vista then ubuntu.

hey but thanks for your comment, i appreciate it though.
