Connecting to my Linksys router's management webpage (Ubuntu 9.04)

Asked by jwesleycooper

I have an already working connection to my wireless router, but I can't seem to figure out how I'm supposed to connect to my Linksys router's management page, so I can adjust my network's settings at will. Before I installed Ubuntu, I used Windows Vista's network link to do this, which brought the login window, and page in Microsoft Internet Explorer; however, I can't seem to accomplish the same task in FireFox, nor can I find any trace of a Linux utility that would accomplish the same function... How, therefore, can I do this?

You do that the same way as you did it in Windows.

Look into the handbook that came with your router for an IP address and type that into the address bar of your browser.

Linksys most commonly uses 192.168.1.1

some linksys have the following info
http://192.168.3.1
Username: admin
Password: (leave it blank)
hope it helps, if not double check the router handbook

I have a similar situation. I have a working linksys wireless network with two computers, a desktop running XP SP2 and a laptop with Vista Home Premium. Today, I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on the laptop, on a USB drive and it comes up OK. I sort of fooled around with the network tool and I can get to the linksys home page from the Laptop running Ubuntu. BUT, I cannot connect to the Internet. Is it something I need to do with Linksys?
