If the version you desire is not on the repos then you will need to find a repo with it on. Is there a vast difference in the 2 java versions?

To install a Java runtime/interpreter on Ubuntu, look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java

For the Sun Java runtime install sun-java6-jre from the Multiverse repository

You are however fixing something that isnt broken

Can you help with this problem?
