You can run some windows applications through something called wine. www.winehq.com

check the appdb for compatibility (http://appdb.winehq.org/)

Half life and CounterStrike:source run pretty well but you may need to ad some funky configs to wine but you will learn all this as you do it.

If you have some spare cash you can buy crossover-office or cedega which are both great for windows based games. If you also check the manufacturers sites you may find they have made a Linux based installer to make the ap native (this is good), Doom3 has a native installer (ID software like linux lots)

THere is also a buch of guys who make Loki installers which will give settings for the app to run best under wine (I think it uses wine). If there is a loki installer for your game I suggest you use it.

There are also great native linux games like:

frets on fire (Guitar hero clone - awesome)
Penumbra (scary stuff)
Urban terror (Like counterstrike and based on the unreal engine)

Can you help with this problem?
