Cannot install Ubuntu on Virtual PC 2007

Asked by Francis Mosse

I tried to install the latest Ubuntu on a Virtual PC 2007 virtual machine on top of Vista. The Ubuntu installation (from CD) shows me the nice, usual Ubuntu splash screen and then it spits a bunch of error messages and stops. Has anyone been able to install Ubuntu using Vista and Virtual PC 2007? (I don't want to use VirtualBox because it messes my internet connection and freezes my machine when I use Outlook.)

[ 1.680004] [<c0109740>] apply_paravirt+0xb0/0xd0
...and so on...
...last two ones are:

Sorry, Virtual PC 2007 isn't designed to run any sort of Linux, it's designed to run older versions of Windows. Alternatives to VirtualBox are QEMU and Bochs.http://www.dell.com/

Pat,

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into something other than Virtual PC 2007 now.
