Your installation CD-ROM could not be mounted
I keep getting getting the error "Your installation CD-ROM could not be mounted" when trying to install Ubuntu or trying to load off the Ububtu Live CD. Any ideas as to what could cause this? The OS installs and works fine in Virtual PC so the CD appears to be fine and I have tried both of my DVD burners, one is a Pioneer and the other is a Benq.

If its a burned cd, try burning it at a slower speed (8 or 16), if its a printed cd i'm not sure - sometimes drives just dont work properly, but i dont remember if there is a fix of some sort.

Its a printed CD, I use the same CD drives in Virtual PC as well.

I found a solution, in my BIOS you can set the SATA and IDE channels to different channels, for example, you can have a primary master, primary slave through to 4th master and 4th slave. The CDROMs have to be on either the primary or seconday channel.

I am getting the same error. My cd rom drive is the first drive on the secondary IDE channel. The disk passed testing on another PC.
