Compiz Intel 965GM Conflict

Asked by Vishnu Babykumar

Hi,
Read on some post that Jaunty's recent updates would re enable Compiz,removing the Intel 965GM from the whitelist..Is this true?I tried updating but no success..Also gave a hand at downgrading to the driver version 2.4 of Intrepid..no success again..
SO has the driver problem fixed?Will I be able to use Compiz as I did in Ubuntu 8.10...I get an error in AWN as well...
Plz help!

Sorry but the problem was supposed to be:
Intel 965GM currently in blacklist...so the recent update (as given in that post) would put the driver back into the whitelist..

Sorry for the mistake...

This command will override the blacklist:
mkdir -p ~/.config/compiz/ && echo SKIP_CHECKS=yes >> ~/.config/compiz/compiz-manager

Hi Dave,thanx buddy....Luckily Compiz not creating any probs so that work around is working fine but can this workaround result in system instability?I mean my system sometimes hangs in between for apparently no reason forcing me to manually press the power off button...

Any idea when the driver prob will be resolved?
Regards
Vishnu

Yes, running compiz on this GPU can cause instability/freezing with Ubuntu 9.04. That's why the chipset was blacklisted. If the freezing does not occur when you disable compiz, then it's probably compiz causing the freezes.
