acer aspire one low wireless range?

hello i am trying out ubuntu 9.04 unr on acer aspire one 110. i have noticed that i am only getting about 40% wireless signal strength, and the orange led for wireless is not lit. when i revert back to linpus lite my signal strenght is 100% has any one seen this effect? the internet is only showing between 1mb/s to 9mb/s speed? is this driver issue? is there any tweeks to increase the signal strength in ubuntu 9.04? i am assuming the hardware must be ok as linpu lite report 100% signal srength? i am running belkin router n+ all my other computer get 100% signal strength.

Its ranked differently. Ubuntu trys to be more exact. Windows and some other OSs tend to take really good as 100%. Really the signal is just a number if your connection is intermittent because of a weak signal then you have a problem. About the speed its just a guess but id say its nothing to worry about speed gos up and down anyway.
