how to restore system to a previous condition

Asked by triby

i use 9.04. I, accidently removed pidgin icon from the tray, also in the effort to restore that i made some unnecessary preferences with it. How can i bring that icon (ACTIVE PIDGIN ICON that appears on the right side of the screen near to date, battery, volume icons by default) back to the panel

Try the following:

1) Launch Pidgin
2) Select Tools and then Preferences
3) On the first tab (the Interface tab) change "Show System tray icon" to "Always"

If that doesn't work, you may have removed your notification area. To add it again, do the following:

1) Right-click on your top panel in a blank area.
2) Click "Add to Panel"
3) Select the Notification Area applet from the list and press the add button. You should then be able to move this applet around by right clicking on it and selecting "Move". This will allow you to move it back to where you like it.
