Items dragged to trash are deleted immediately

I am running 9.04 and have discovered that items dragged to the trash are deleted immediately. I'm sure the fix is something obvious, but I am a little tired and that is affecting my thought processes.

Hey Bill. :-)

Places --> Home folder --> Edit --> Preferences --> Behavior --> Trash --> Always ask before deleting trash files.

Oh dear. I forget to flag this as solved. The problem is now moot since I upgraded to 9.10 long ago.
