Hi Mark,
 I've been through a bunch of your posts to others. I think my laptop is almost there, but something's not quite right, it's now at least trying to connect.
And before you tell me to follow the some steps; Here are the most recent results:
Before that, is there a way to scan for nearby wifi, other than the command line? I don't mind, I'm just used to evil MS. and starting the leap from the vista vesel. Thanks!

Try this, Chris. :-)

"sudo rmmod ssb" then "sudo modprobe wl"

Then, the wireless light on your laptop should turn on, change colors, whatever, and in about 5 minutes, you should be able to connect to a wireless network.
